Interactive Read Aloud ( I )
Interactive read aloud is the basis of balanced literacy instruction. By reading aloud to students, they begin to build the essential knowledge for early reading development. An interactive read aloud involves the entire class and provides students with the opportunity to see how enjoyable reading truly is. Teachers do much more than just read to students during a read aloud, they introduce new vocabulary, emphasize story elements, and guide students with questions. Involving students in the reading and making reading fun and informative is the key to a successful interactive read aloud.
